Police warning about snatch-and-run gold thieves
Police are taking action to combat a rise in street robberies in which gold chains are snatched from victims' necks.
Officers at Leicester's Belgrave police station said the number of incidents had risen to about two a week, following a lull.
The robbers have been on foot and pulled chains from their victims' necks.
Officers are patrolling areas where attacks have taken place and urging residents to be on the look-out for suspicious characters.

Vehicles stopped in checks for criminals

No action against halal firm
No action will be taken against a company accused of supplying halal burgers containing pork to schools.Leicester City Council withdrew a lamb burger supplied to 19 schools by Doncaster firm Paragon Quality Foods last month after tests showed up to 50 per cent pork in a sample.However, further tests on the company's products conducted at the request of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have found no trace of pork.A spokeswoman for the FSA said: "We were notified of the findings by Leicester...
Man killed in London terrorist attack
A man has died and two others have been injured in a suspected terrorist incident in London.
The attack happened at 2.20pm this afternoon in Woolwich in south east London.
According to BBC sources, two people armed with weapons killed a man in the street and the two attackers were then shot by police officers.
The local MP Nick Raynsford has said the dead man was a soldier at Woolwich barracks.

A second bid to create a Sikh free school in Leicester has been successful.The Department for Education announced yesterday that proposals by nine temple leaders had been accepted.The school, which is expected to open in September 2014 on an undisclosed site, will be called Falcon's Primary.Although it will welcome children from all faiths, half of the places will be reserved for Sikhs.
